Description
The Main Character Experience™ Podcast | Great Lock-In, Week 3
Hello, gorgeous!
What if consistency isn't about doing everything perfectly, never missing a workout, or showing up at 100% every single day?
In Week 3 of the Great Lock-In, we're talking about how to stay consistent when motivation fades, why your approach matters more than you think, and how to build habits that support the life you actually have.
For years, I talked about needing to work out, eat better, and get back into a routine. I would start, fall off, and find myself right back where I started. I was overwhelmed with work, business, content creation, and responsibilities, and taking care of myself felt like one more thing on an already full plate.
Then I discovered Pilates.
I was nervous about walking into a studio, spending money on something I might quit, and putting myself in an unfamiliar environment. But I decided to try a free class anyway. Now, 21 classes later, I'm stronger, more confident, and learning to show up for myself in ways I hadn't in years.
And the biggest transformation isn't just physical. It's learning that I don't have to wait until I'm confident, motivated, or perfectly prepared to begin.
In this episode, we're getting into what consistency really looks like, how to stop making yourself prove you can do everything alone, and why building a sustainable routine starts with understanding yourself.
In this episode, we discuss:
- Why motivation alone isn't enough to sustain meaningful change.
- How to stay consistent without expecting yourself to give 100% every day.
- The difference between a lack of discipline and an approach that simply doesn't work for you.
- How fear of failure can keep you from investing in yourself.
- Why accountability, community, and the right environment can make consistency easier.
- How starting small helps you build habits you can actually sustain.
- Why rest, flexibility, and adjusting your approach are part of consistency.
- How keeping promises to yourself strengthens self-trust.
- What it means to prioritize yourself when you're accustomed to showing up for everybody else.
Your Great Lock-In challenge
This week, identify one area of your life where you've been waiting for motivation instead of making a decision.
Then ask yourself:
Where in your life are you relying on motivation when what you actually need is a decision?
Start smaller. Examine your approach. Ask for support when you need it. And give yourself permission to be a beginner.
You don't need a perfect plan. You need a starting point.
Your weekly reflection
When did I have an opportunity to quit, negotiate, procrastinate, or make an excuse this week?
What did I choose instead?
Remember, this isn't about criticizing yourself for being imperfect. It's about becoming more intentional about the choices you make.
