๐ญ Directed Edition โ every role cast for this story and every line performed with full voice direction.
London, October 1945. The city is learning to leave its curtains open again, and Sherlock Holmes is boiling something foul at the sitting-room table when a weary officer of the Dominion Frontier Constabulary arrives with an envelope meant for Holmes's hands alone. At Scotland Yard, Inspector Lestrade is made to wait while the visitor lays out photographs and decoded cables from a foreign embassy. A clerk there, ignored by the officials he first approached, has walked out with proof that a scientist from a wartime laboratory in Canada has passed secrets abroad. The papers also say the scientist will be in London within days. Holmes and Watson attend a public lecture on the new bomb and meet the scientist's former colleagues over tea: a lecturer, a typist, and a penniless chemist who cannot say where he worked and begs for any post. A further cable names a meeting place, a museum gate, and an hour: eleven o'clock on the night of the seventh. Only a few people in London know it. The Yard has already begun to watch one of the colleagues. Which of the people at that tea table is the one the cables describe?
From the series Sherlock Holmes โ The New Cases: a real crime of the 1940s reimagined as a classic Sherlock Holmes radio mystery, performed by a full multi-voice AI cast, with sound design and a light score that stays under the story.
Loosely inspired by a real event of the 1940s. All names, characters, dialogue and events are fictional; the words, actions, motives and private lives of every character โ including the scientists, the typist, the landlady, the frontier policeman, the investigators and the police โ are invented for drama, and so is the solution of the mystery. Where a real city, state, public body or newspaper is mentioned, its part in this story is invented; the museum, the college and the lodging houses named in it are invented too. This is a work of fiction, not a factual account of any real person or institution. No real person is portrayed, and no real individual, company or organisation is accused of any act shown here.
Setting: Baker Street and Bloomsbury โ October 1945.
Writer v2.7 โ the studio's newest writing process: the plot is planned and checked by an AI story editor, then each act is drafted with the whole story in view and edited before a word is voiced โ and then cast and performed with our new casting and voice direction.
