Description
**Podcast Description**
Clay sits down with Jason Miller of Raven 6 Rising Lost Pet Recovery—the guy who shows up with a truck full of generators, monitors, and thermal drones when your dog or cat disappears and the usual “post it on Facebook and pray” plan isn’t cutting it.
Jason started in TV and wildlife production back when drones were brand new, moved into agriculture and thermal work (finding deer, mostly), and got into pets after locating a missing boxer in under an hour. Now he runs a legitimate mobile command operation across Mississippi: fly at night when the heat signatures pop, lock onto the animal with white-hot thermal and a spotlight so there’s zero doubt it’s yours, drop a GPS pin, and guide the owner in. Sometimes the animal comes straight to them. Sometimes it’s in full fear mode and bolts, which is when the trappers get the call. Time is the whole game—every hour they stay out multiplies the search radius.
They cover the real-world stuff: why most people still don’t put a collar with their number on the dog, how microchips only help if they’re registered and current, why a proper GPS collar (he likes the Fi) beats an AirTag, and the ugly side of lost-pet posts—scammers using AI to fake photos of your animal in their truck and demand money. Jason’s rule is simple: if they won’t meet you in person, they don’t have the pet.
There’s also the Linus story (the yellow Lab taken by the Tylertown tornado, missing ten days, found after eight hours of flying over matchstick debris—Fox Weather even picked it up) and the ongoing threat of a DJI ban. Jason’s been flying them since they existed; he’s not interested in grounded $100k-plus rigs or law enforcement and search-and-rescue teams suddenly left without the best tools available because of lobbying and China concerns. He also talks about building a fund so people who can’t afford a search still get one when they need it.
If your animal is missing, do the basics first (flyers, neighbors, vets, pounds, cameras), then find Jason on Facebook under Raven 6 Rising Lost Pet Recovery. He’s not free—this is real equipment and real hours—but if the pet is family, it’s worth the call.
