🎭 Directed Edition — every role cast for this story and every line performed with full voice direction.

On a blustery June evening in 1956, Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson are at Baker Street, with Watson packing trout rods for a weekend on the Test and a half-crown wagered on the weather, when a young newsreader from Radio-Genève arrives straight from the aeroplane. Simone brings word that Henri Vautier, a machinery dealer, was killed at his home in Vessy-les-Pins the night before, and that his son Gilles, a sound engineer, will not trust a telephone and wants Holmes in Geneva. Holmes hesitates to arrive as a foreigner without standing, but Watson points out that a man who sends for help by air has something he cannot say on a line. At the shuttered house, the dead man's widow waits in the hall beside a chair she has set before the sealed room, and mother and son trade sharp words about secrets kept under that roof for a year. At the radio station, Gilles's name is being passed to the press, and reporters crowd the door. An inspector of the Sûreté then receives the visitors coolly and describes the wounds: a shot from across the room, then a blade. What did Gilles need to tell Holmes that he could not say to anyone else?

From the series Sherlock Holmes — The New Cases: a real crime of the 1950s reimagined as a classic Sherlock Holmes radio mystery, performed by a full multi-voice AI cast, with sound design and a light score that stays under the story.

Loosely inspired by a real event of the 1950s. All names, characters, dialogue and events are fictional; the words, actions, motives and private lives of every character — including a radio newsreader, a sound engineer, a machinery dealer and his family, the station's staff, the investigators and the police — are invented for drama, and so is the solution of the mystery. Where a real city, state, public body or newspaper is mentioned, its part in this story is invented; the radio station, the village and its streets named in it are invented too. This is a work of fiction, not a factual account of any real person or institution. No real person is portrayed, and no real individual, company or organisation is accused of any act shown here.

Setting: London and Geneva — June 1956.

Writer v2.7 — the studio's newest writing process: the plot is planned and checked by an AI story editor, then each act is drafted with the whole story in view and edited before a word is voiced — and then cast and performed with our new casting and voice direction.
