Back to EpisodesMatchday, Aston Villa (h): Manzambi inevitable, Newcastle inexplicable
Published 18 hours ago
Description
Newcastle United followed up the Premier League loss at Coventry with another against Villa at home; a much stronger opposition, it's true, but this was no less worrying.
Of course Johan Manzambi got the goal; if only Newcastle's defence had been as wary of his presence as the fans! And it could have been a lot worse had Sven Botman seen red for a reckless challenge on Nicolas Jackson.
How dangerous might a run of defeats be for new manager Matthias Jaissle with a squad blending youngsters with those elevated to first-choice?
