TNTF Presents 30 Teams In 24 Days: 26-27 Oklahoma City Thunder
Description
After winning 64 games and finishing with the NBA's best record, can the Oklahoma City Thunder reclaim their place atop The Association following a disappointing conclusion to their championship defense?
Gavriel Wilkins and Torrence Stagger begin the final day of their journey through 30 Teams In 24 Days by heading to Oklahoma City to examine the Thunder's outlook entering the 2026-27 NBA season, as the franchise looks to capture its second championship in three years.
The guys discuss Oklahoma City's offseason under general manager Sam Presti, including the departures of Lu Dort, Aaron Wiggins and Isaiah Joe, along with the organization's decision to retain Isaiah Hartenstein and invest in younger talent. They also revisit the Thunder's 64-win campaign and debate whether falling to the San Antonio Spurs in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals should be considered a disappointing season.
Then, Gavriel and Torrence examine the importance of Jalen Williams returning to full health after appearing in just 33 regular-season games last year. While also assessing whether or not Jared McCain, Ajay Mitchell and Cason Wallace can collectively replace the production and contributions of Oklahoma City's departed rotation players.
The conversation then shifts toward Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and his continued ascent among the NBA's elite players, including where the former league MVP currently stands among the greatest guards of his generation and how high he could climb historically.
With San Antonio emerging as one of Oklahoma City's biggest obstacles, the guys discuss Chet Holmgren's continued development and what adjustments the Thunder must make in their quest to overcome Victor Wembanyama and the Spurs following last season's Western Conference Finals defeat.
Finally, Gavriel and Torrence evaluate Oklahoma City's projected 60.5-to-62.5-win range before delivering their official predictions for the Thunder during the upcoming season.
