Episode Details

J Mascis, guitarist, principal songwriter, and frontman for indie rock legends Dinosaur Jr., has been recording and releasing albums for well over four decades. From demos with his early band Deep Wound, Dinosaur Jr., solo projects, and playing drums and guitars on a multitude of other releases from artists such as The Breeders, Mark Lanegan, Mew, and Band of Horses, J Mascis has built an impressive body of work. Geoff Stanfield caught up with J from his home for a casual chat about finding music as a teen, recording early demos on a boombox, early studio gear acquisitions, what it's like to be a drummer in his band, and more! Enjoy!
