Boston, November 1950. A young dockside lookout is found drowned in his own bedroom, with the door bolted from the inside and not a drop of water on the floor, the bed or the rug. The case lands on the basement desk of Nell Harrow, the policewoman who gets the cases Homicide will not touch. Her strangest lead is a tall, bald, dripping man seen on the end of Long Wharf, a man who never blinks. When she finds him there, he has no name, no memory of who he is, no pulse, and a way of hearing every heartbeat around him. The Captain wants a man, not a ghost, and a court will only take what can be proved.

From the series Special Matters, the first of the Mono Noir Super Series: a continuing, episodic superhero audio drama in which the same characters return, grow and carry what happened into every new case. This is the pilot, S01E01, so start here. About fifty minutes, performed by a full multi-voice AI cast with an original score and sound design.

An original work of fiction. All names, characters, dialogue and events are fictional; the words, actions, motives and private lives of every character, including the police, the doctors, the judge, the lawyer and the dockworkers, are invented for drama. Where a real city, neighborhood, street, wharf, newspaper, hospital, court or public body is mentioned, its part in this story is invented. This is a work of fiction, not a factual account of any real person or institution.

Setting: Boston, November 1950 — with Long Wharf and Charlestown.
