Episode Details

Just four months after ending a 53-year championship drought with one of the most dominant postseason runs in NBA history, can the New York Knicks defend their crown and establish themselves as the league's next dynasty?

Gavriel Wilkins and Torrence Stagger continue their journey through 30 Teams In 24 Days by heading to Madison Square Garden to examine the defending NBA champions and their outlook entering the 2026-27 season following a historic campaign that saw New York capture both the NBA Cup and its first NBA championship since 1973.

The guys reflect back on the Knicks' remarkable championship season, including their 16-3 postseason record and NBA Finals victory over the San Antonio Spurs. They also discuss New York's relatively quiet offseason, which saw the organization retain much of its championship core while losing longtime center Mitchell Robinson to the Boston Celtics.

Including taking some time to examine whether Jalen Brunson can add a regular-season MVP award to his résumé after earning both NBA Cup MVP and Finals MVP honors. Prior to assessing the overall impact of Robinson's departure and whether New York can maintain the physicality, rebounding and defensive identity that helped fuel its championship run.

With Karl-Anthony Towns and the Knicks reportedly far apart on a potential contract extension, the guys discuss whether the All-Star big man's uncertain future could become a significant storyline throughout the season.

Finally, Gavriel and Torrence debate whether New York can become the first franchise since the Golden State Warriors to win back-to-back NBA championships before evaluating the Knicks' projected 51.5-to-52.5-win range and delivering their official predictions for the upcoming season.
