The Odditorium: Ep 1

Episode 29 Published 4 days, 23 hours ago
Description

The regular museum tours have wrapped up for the evening, but there's still plenty happening behind the scenes.

Welcome to THE ODDITORIUM, the brand-new after-hours variety show from The Oddities Department, where bizarre discoveries, forgotten headlines, unexplained mysteries, and humanity's most questionable decisions finally get their own place on display.

In our very first episode, we're opening six departments.

The Bulletin Board: We investigate mysterious cosmic objects hiding in old telescope data, two bizarre new species of sea spiders discovered in the Pacific Northwest, and a 3,800-year-old sealed letter that modern technology has finally allowed researchers to read.

WTF Weekly: Gavin digs into a 1910 Spokane newspaper article suggesting that America solve its meat shortage by raising hippopotamuses for food.

The Visitor Vault: Lindsay explores the Pig War of 1859, when the United States and Britain nearly went to war over a pig eating someone's potatoes.

The Fringe Files: We revisit the Oakville Blobs, a bizarre 1994 incident in Washington state when mysterious gelatinous material reportedly rained from the sky, leaving scientists, residents, and conspiracy theorists scratching their heads.

The Patent Pit: Lindsay hands Gavin $100,000 in imaginary money to invest in four very real inventions with a paranormal twist. Some became successful products. Others probably should have stayed buried.

The Afterlife Department: We process the final wishes of three people who refused to let death interfere with their creativity, including a Ferrari burial, a philosopher who turned himself into furniture, and the inventor who made a Pringles can his final resting place.

Six departments. One very questionable after-hours tour.

Welcome to THE ODDITORIUM.

The regular tours may be over for tonight, but we're just getting started.
