From Med School to the Priesthood: Father James Musgrave’s Road Back to Faith
Description
Father James Musgrave (Class of 2005) grew up in Allen Park in a home with no faith life. He enrolled at Catholic Central almost on a whim, was overwhelmed by his first theology class, and didn’t expect the seed planted there to take root. After starting medical school, he left in a crisis of purpose, found peace at Mass, and was baptized and confirmed in 2012. A challenge to spend 30 minutes a week in Adoration led him to the seminary at age 33 and to ordination just two months before this conversation.
In this episode, Father Musgrave explains why discipleship means surrendering again every morning, why he chose the diocesan priesthood, and why Confession is his favorite sacrament. He also offers advice for students with no religious background: start with the Great Story of salvation history.
