Why Do We Get Confused? | The Confusion of Confusion
Published 2Â days, 20Â hours ago
Description
Why do we get confused, and why does understanding so often begin there?
Settle into The Confusion of Confusion, a thoughtful sleep story about the strange, familiar feeling of not quite knowing.
A man wakes in the dark, unsure which room surrounds him. The walls seem to belong to several places at once, until memory brings them gently back. Marcel Proust begins here, with a moment most of us have known.
Tonight we follow confusion through words, philosophy and the workings of the mind.
Socrates admits that he is as puzzled as the people he questions. A colour word pulls our attention away from the ink it is printed in. A forgotten name feels almost within reach, while a Zen teacher offers a question that refuses to settle.
Along the way, we visit the Tower of Babel, meet Nasreddin and his missing donkey, and walk with Alice into a wood where things have no names.
We explore how a little uncertainty can reveal what we have yet to understand, and why some confusions need time and care to come clear.
The story returns to a quiet bedroom. On the bedside table, river silt is slowly settling in a glass of water. The walls have found their places. Nothing needs working out before morning.
Let the story keep you company as you settle down to rest.
This sleep story is told slowly and gently for sleep, relaxation and quiet late-night listening.
