The Night My Daughters Saw Me at My Worst
Description
In this deeply personal episode, I talk about a night from my past that I wish I could erase. A night when alcohol affected my family in ways I didn't fully understand until years later.
When my wife recently shared what she remembered, I was flooded with shame. Not because of who I am today, but because of who I was then. Hearing her memories forced me to confront parts of myself I have been working on. It reminded me that the damage caused by alcohol doesn't disappear just because you stop drinking.
I've now been sober for eight+ years, but sobriety doesn't erase regret. It doesn't change the mistakes I made or the pain I caused. What it does give me is the chance to take responsibility, make amends, and keep doing the hard work of becoming someone my family can trust around alcohol.
This is an honest conversation about my alcohol issues, shame, guilt, fatherhood, accountability, healing family relationships, and learning to live with the consequences of past choices without making excuses for them. If you've ever looked back on your life and felt the weight of something you wish you could change, I hope this episode reminds you that you're not alone, and that growth begins when we're willing to face the truth.
