A home can be packed with technology and still feel flat, but get the lighting right and everything changes. Today we’re spotlighting a standout Decorex 2026 collaboration where Lutron teams up with Luxury Home Technology Integrator HomePlay and Hill House Interiors to create the Beach House, an immersive installation designed to push lighting into the heart of the interior design conversation.

We walk through the experience at the centre of the build: a three-minute demonstration that compresses a full day of natural light into a single sequence. As the exterior shifts from sunrise to sunset, the interior responds in lockstep, showing how lighting control, shading, and scene-setting can track the rhythm of daylight. With Lutron’s Ketra full-spectrum lighting, the colour temperature and intensity move from cool morning tones to bright midday clarity, then into warmer afternoon settings before finishing on a soft, candlelight-like glow. It’s a practical, highly visual way to explain what “human-first” lighting can feel like in a real home.

We also dig into the bigger point raised by HomePlay’s James Ratcliffe: the best intelligent lighting is experienced rather than noticed, supporting designers without becoming visually dominant.
