The Westchester Brief | 10.13.26: Playland Up 36%, Cost Unreported
Description
Playland's 2026 attendance is up about 36%, according to the Rye Record, but the published numbers do not say what the season cost Westchester County. We look at the attendance, wristband and revenue figures, a correction to a number we aired in June, and what County Executive Ken Jenkins says is next for the Dragon Coaster after the September 19 electrical fire.
The Rye Record reports about 320,000 visitors so far this year, against 235,210 a year earlier, and 171,677 ride wristbands sold, up from 93,415. It also reports park admissions revenue of $3.49 million, up from $1.31 million. The article gives no operating expenses and no budget target. We also explain why we use a higher 2025 attendance figure than the one we aired in June.
