Description
Folk Tales of India — Part 7 of 81 (The Story of Prince Sobur)
"I get my living by my own fortune," says the merchant's youngest daughter — and her angry father has her left in the forest. A speaking tree shelters her, peacocks make her rich, and a magic fan brings her a prince who appears whenever it is shaken. But when her jealous sisters strike at her happiness on her wedding night, she must cross the country in a holy man's disguise, with a cure no physician in the kingdom knows.
From Folk-Tales of Bengal by Lal Behari Day (1883), public domain; told in a modern in-house rendering.
KacheliTV — world classics, read aloud.
