DHS Raided Ilhan Omar’s Home Three Weeks Before The Midterms
Description
Homeland Security agents raided Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar's Washington home before dawn this morning, three weeks before the midterms, in a criminal case over her immigration paperwork.
Omar came here as a 12-year-old refugee after her family fled civil war in Somalia. She's been a citizen for 26 years. She's on the ballot in three weeks. And the federal government picked this morning to get curious about her forms.
The Justice Department says it's "part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation." Homeland Security referred every question to the Justice Department. One agency shows up at her door at dawn and the other one has to explain why. Real synergy. Last month Omar said nobody had ever contacted her about an investigation. I guess a search warrant counts as reaching out.
In January, the orange menace announced she "left Somalia with NOTHING, and is now reportedly worth more than 44 Million Dollars." Her own disclosure lists her income at $5,000 to $15,000. The $44 million is the value of companies her husband is a partner in. But sure, let the guy charging up to $100,000 a month for early access to his posts audit her money.
Then JD Vance said on a podcast, "we actually think that Ilhan Omar definitely committed immigration fraud," and that he and Stephen Miller were "trying to look at what the remedies are." Stephen Miller looking for remedies is how every horror movie starts.
Then the Republican chairman of the House Oversight Committee went on a MAGA podcast and said the Justice Department is "investigating the entire Omar family."
Then in September, the Secretary of Homeland Security, offering zero evidence, said "We know that she married her brother." There's no proof, because it's a smear, and smears only need a title and a microphone. This morning his agents searched her house.
Pick a lane, fellas. First it was her $44 million, then fraud, then her brother, and now paperwork. This case has had more rewrites than a superhero franchise, and the evidence keeps getting cut from the final edit.
And the timing. The Justice Department usually avoids big moves against candidates in the last 60 days before an election. We're inside 30. They didn't bend that norm. They bulldozed it on the way to her street.
So who's next? Because if immigration paperwork is enough for federal agents to raid a congresswoman's home before dawn, it's enough for anyone. Every kid who came here as a refugee. Every naturalized citizen whose parents filled out the forms. All of them are one Truth Social post away from the same knock. And if they'll do this to a member of Congress, imagine what they'll do to your neighbor.
This is how secret police work. You don't need a conviction. You don't even need the truth. You just need people scared. The point isn't to win the case. The point is for every immigrant, every Somali family in Minnesota, every Democrat thinking about running, to watch this morning and do the math on whether speaking up is worth it.
They spent months telling the country lies about her. Now they've got a raid to make the lies look official.
Omar's answer this morning:
"I will not be silenced."
