Epicurus was an ancient Greek philosopher who lived in the 3rd century BC. The philosophy named after him, Epicureanism, is based on actionable advice and typical Greek moderation. Commonly misunderstood as plain hedonism, Epicureanism offers adherents a good life in four steps. They are about the gods, good things, bad things, and even death. Epicureanism offers something of an alternative to Stoicism, even though both philosophies tend to use the same concepts, such as "ataraxia" and "aponia".
