The fallout from the Constitutional Court's asylum ruling dominated the day on air, as violent protests, arrests and a fresh government legal strategy ran through bulletins on 702, Cape Talk, SAfm, 947, Kaya and Power FM. In Cape Town, a surge of gang shootings in Athlone kept residents and Pagad in the headlines. Stations also marked Navi Pillay's Nobel Peace Prize, Sundowns' MTN8 triumph and the loss of R&B singer Freddie Jackson, while Jacob Zuma's health remained a recurring talking point.
