Episode Details

FACT CHECK: I examine President Trump’s Truth Social declaration of an immediate Russia-Ukraine energy ceasefire—and the central problem with it: Ukraine said it had not been informed, Russia offered no public confirmation, and reporting cited in the video indicated that Kharkiv’s CHP-5 power plant was struck soon afterward.

I break down the difference between an announced truce and a verified, reciprocal agreement with consequences for violations. I also look at Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s stated willingness to support an energy ceasefire if Russia accepts it, alongside his separate offer to hold elections after 60 days of a total ceasefire. The strategic issue is not rhetoric. It is whether Washington can secure clear terms, confirmation from both parties, monitoring, and credible pressure on Vladimir Putin when commitments are violated.
