Byliny — Danilo Lovchanin
Description
At Prince Vladimir's feast every boyar boasts — of strength, of riches, of estates — and one hero alone sits silent, thinking of his young wife; and from that silence grows a prince's desire, a slanderer's errand to the Levanidov meadows, and a ride out into the open field from which neither the bright falcon nor the white swan returns.
Danilo Lovchanin (Данило Ловчанин) — a bylina of old Rus', recorded in Songs Collected by P. V. Kireevsky, Part 1, Issue 3 (Moscow, 1861), in a new English translation made for this show, read aloud over a gentle instrumental bed.
Byliny.
Intermission: "Three Pairs of Yellow Eyes" — instrumental.
KacheliTV — Russian classics, read aloud.
