Welcome to this series which invites us into learning a broader meaning for the Ten Commandments based on what we read throughout scripture. The meanings come from Martin Luther's Small Catechism. Each video also offers an opportunity to use the Ten Commandments in prayer and as a way of confessing where we've messed up and need forgiveness. A new video and podcast will be released each week. What is this? We are to fear and love God, so that we neither despise nor anger our parents and others in authority, but instead honor, serve, obey, love, and respect them. Praying the Fourth Commandment Dear God, it isn’t always easy to honor our family members. Please forgive us for the ways we have failed. When we have messed up, help us to start again. When our family has failed us, heal us. Heal our relationships. And when we can't do this on our own, send us the support we need in you, in the people around us or in counselors or mentors who may guide us. We thank you for family.
