Description
“I don’t want fitness to take over my life.”
Fair. If getting your abs back meant training twice a day, weighing every meal and planning your life around the gym, nobody would want that. Marwan Killu lived that version in his early thirties: two weight sessions a day, HIIT, an hour of swimming, an hour in the sauna, bread refused because of the carbs. He still got fatter.
That’s the part most men miss. The obsession was never the standard. It was excess piled on top of a basic miss: he had no idea how much he was eating.
What it asks of him now is far smaller. Four sessions a week. Food planned ahead rather than thought about all day. Restaurants, travel and gelato included. There is a lot of room between weighing every blueberry and winging it, and most successful men have never looked at what sits in it.
They are also the men who treat control as an asset everywhere else: the business, the money, the calendar. Only the body gets called obsessive.
So it doesn’t have to take over your life. But it will ask for something, and the invoice you’re still remembering isn’t the real one.
Which leaves a harder question. If fitness asks this little and you still say no, was it ever the reason?
