Ben said he wanted to be a fireman. George said he'd be a nurse.

"Don't be stupid, boys aren't nurses!"

"They are!"

Mrs Hayman intervened. "Boys make great nurses. What about you, Hattie?"

I said I'd like to be a witch.

"That's not a job! What will you do when you're grown up?"

"Witch."

Everyone laughed. Even George.

Well, who's got a BMW and a swimming pool now? And no, since you ask, I don't have a 'little shop'. I'm not on Etsy.

Mrs Hayman slipped on the stairs. And left me all her money. So did George.

Funny, that.

I'm pretty sure that the witches who are posting daily content on Instagram—and wearing t-shirts about being the granddaughters of those you didn't burn— are not the ones you really need to watch out for.
