After reading Acts 2:1-8, we get Tozer's line: no repetition of Pentecost, but a perpetuation of it. The rushing mighty wind was a sound (Acts 2:2, John 3:8), the cloven tongues of fire sat on each of them (Acts 2:3), and none of it was ever repeated. What stayed is the Comforter, who makes Jesus Christ real: Peter's sermon (Acts 2:33-36), power from on high (Luke 24:49) and why the Holy Spirit was not named after dynamite. Then Satan's dead crow in God's cornfield, the church called to live above her own ability, and Moses: if you don't go with us, I'm not going (Exodus 33:15). Pt 4 of Tozer's ten messages on the Holy Spirit.
