Pushkin — Ruslan and Lyudmila, Canto Four
Description
Pushkin — Ruslan and Lyudmila, Canto Four
Young Ratmir rides south — and never rides on: a singing maiden on a castle wall, a bath, a feast and a moonlit kiss make him forget the quest and the captive bride entirely. Ruslan rides the other way, through autumn into winter, past heroes, witches and mermaids, and never wavers. And Lyudmila, invisible under her magic cap, wanders Chernomor's gardens unseen — until the wizard spreads his net, wears the shape of her wounded husband, and catches her at last, while somewhere beyond the walls a horn is already sounding for him.
Ruslan and Lyudmila (Руслан и Людмила), Canto Four — by Alexander Pushkin, in a new English verse translation made for this show, read aloud over a gentle instrumental bed.
Pushkin.
Intermission: "The Spring Remembers 2" — instrumental.
