Description
Wow, what an episode this was. And a bit of a rollercoaster ride at times; that needed some masterly editing by Paul to get right. As always, Charlotte's unmedicated ADHD, unscripted script had to be carefully puzzled together like an undeniably raw piece of art. (Pun intended hehe), but there are, without a doubt, some bubbles of wisdom.

The BBC did a podcast about the swinging community, and we listened. We explained our views and why it absolutely was coercion, but also how the brainwashing way in which the podcast was delivered was definitely bordering upon being coercive at times too. (Although logically, it does need to be a real interpersonal relationship, with ongoing two-way interactions, and there has to be power & control exerted over someone's choices/ behaviour. So although a podcast couldn't technically do it, talking to someone to try and get information out of them could be deemed as such.)
Logically, cohesion can exist in any community, and it definitely does. So not entirely sure why it wasn't called 'Cohesion within the swinger community' instead of 'swingers'... but they did that on purpose, a clickbait-driven one.
And considering the main investigative journalist had just spent a solid year studying cults, it's no surprise really - that same bias projection followed her into the next piece of research. Like, you can just FEEL her skin crawl in episode 3.
Charlotte also does her best to break down the constant fetishism of our community — and how real couples, real friendships and real boundaries get repackaged as clickbait to sell adult content. (Although the complexities behind the anonymity that people need within our community, in order to be able to thrive back out within the vanilla world, mean we need people who are not afraid to be proud of it. - Although the reason they're not worried about it? Is it because they technically don't even swing? oooooooooooooo Char dives in deeply with this one. Although it's just her opinion and viewpoint. It could be completely wrong.
Is that kind of coverage actually helping to normalise the lifestyle, or is it just deceptive, sensationalised, and fake? Inevitably flooding it with people who have no idea about the etiquette at all, or the complexities and the difficulties behind what it is to be a swinger.
We cover our last-minute attendance at the VA Festival of Fof and our interview with the amazing KLC Magazine too; it was just sooooooo much to get through. Still not entirely sure how we managed to cram that all in. But we did.

For that epic catwalk event, for the amazing CALM charity, the one I am anything but calm doing; the link for tickets to attend is below. There is a tight limit on them, though, so once the tickets are gone, they are gone :) It is in Barnsley, so a little up North lol; well for us - it's very far north! hehe. Maybe a day of watching beautiful women strut their stuff for charity, and then Char falling over is a good one
