Ghislaine Maxwell And The Swedish Dog Walker

Published 6 days, 8 hours ago
Description
Rasmus Alpsjö, a Swedish man who worked as Ghislaine Maxwell’s live-in dog walker for three months in 2015, described an unusually secretive and tightly controlled household at her Manhattan townhouse. Alpsjö said he was recruited through another Swedish man who had previously worked for Maxwell and was told that she preferred young, tall, blond, blue-eyed Swedes for the job. He was paid $300 a week in cash, lived in the basement of her East 65th Street residence and cared primarily for her Vizsla, Captain Nemo. When he first met Maxwell and her then-boyfriend Scott Borgerson, Borgerson warned him that Maxwell was a very famous woman, that he could never reveal who employed him and that he was not to bring anyone to the house. Alpsjö also said he was instructed not to speak to journalists, was given a credit card bearing only the initials “GM,” and once noticed a signed copy of Bill Clinton’s autobiography in the home.

Alpsjö said Maxwell appeared intensely paranoid about security and privacy and became angry when he once allowed a delivery man into the foyer of the townhouse. He also recalled seeing what appeared to be a grenade sitting on a desk in her office and said Borgerson gave him a phone number to call if he ever got into trouble, contributing to his impression that the couple had powerful connections. Alpsjö said he never witnessed inappropriate behavior and had no idea at the time about Maxwell’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein or the allegations against her. Years later, after seeing Maxwell in the news, he began questioning why she had maintained a rotating group of young Swedish men in her home and whether there had been some larger purpose behind the arrangement. His account offered a glimpse of Maxwell’s private life during the period before Epstein’s 2019 arrest and before she disappeared from public view.
