The Voices

You're used to us now, aren't you? Us, the voices in your ears; telling you stories, making you laugh.

Not always nice stories - but you'd rather listen to us tell you about a serial killer than overhear that couple's conversation. Other people on public transport are the worst.

So we're always with you. Long journeys, boring workdays. You take us to bed, even into the toilet. Without us, you'd be bored. And exposed. Lost.

We love you, too.

You didn't notice, did you? Your headphones went flat ten minutes ago.

You'll never have to be alone with your thoughts again.
