Description

Today, Larry goes one-on-one with MyRacehorse Director of Partner Strategy and Growth Tyler Peeples following the announcement that the fractional Thoroughbred ownership platform is expanding into Canada through a partnership with Woodbine Entertainment. Tyler explains how MyRacehorse works, the approval process required to enter the Canadian market, and how racing fans can purchase ownership shares starting at one hundred Canadian dollars. He also introduces Atlantic Voyage 24, a two-year-old filly who will be trained by Josie Carroll at Woodbine, with plans to begin racing next month. Tyler discusses the benefits available to shareholders, including behind-the-scenes access, morning training visits, paddock tours and race-day experiences. He also reflects on the history of MyRacehorse, how horses and trainers are selected, and the company's plans for expanding its Canadian ownership program.

Also today, former NHL player and Thoroughbred owner Mike Robitaille joins Ponies 24-7 for the first time. Robitaille played three hundred eighty-two NHL games with four different teams before later spending three years managing Fort Erie Racetrack. Mike discusses how he first became interested in horse racing, his involvement in Thoroughbred ownership over the past forty-five years, and some of the horses and hockey colleagues he has shared ownership interests with. He also reflects on his hockey career and the connection between professional athletes and the competitive side of horse racing. Mike previews today's one hundred twenty-five thousand dollar Sophomore Stakes at Woodbine, where he is part owner of My Covenant, a seven-length winner of the Lake Erie Stakes at Fort Erie who is trained by Audrey Cheung. He also discusses his relationship with Cheung, his experiences as an owner, and the races he would still like to win.

Then, former jockey and now Thoroughbred trainer John Grabowski makes his first appearance on Ponies 24-7 following his first Grade one stakes victory as a trainer with Dotsy in the Frizette Stakes. Purchased for thirty-seven thousand dollars as a yearling, Dotsy captured the race in just her second lifetime start with Kendrick Carmouche aboard. John discusses the filly's preparation for the Frizette, what the victory meant after more than two decades as a trainer, and his plans for her going forward. He also reflects on a riding career that produced more than three thousand four hundred victories and twenty-eight million dollars in purse earnings. John recalls beginning his career in California, his move to Finger Lakes, and the six riding titles he earned there, including a track-record two hundred thirty-three victories in two thousand. He also discusses his transition from riding to training and the horses currently in his stable.

In our feature “In Case You Missed It,” Larry recaps the biggest racing headlines from the past week across North America. Later, he delivers his Ponies Picks of the Day, sponsored by Rocket Ship Racing, highlighting potential wagering opportunities at Woodbine, Woodbine Mohawk Park, and several other tracks racing today. And in this week’s Road Trip, powered by Amplify Logistics and The Cargo Group, Larry heads to Keeneland for the seven hundred fifty thousand dollar Grade one Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup Stakes, a mile-and-an-eighth turf test for three-year-old fillies.
