Episode Details

For Zionists and Israelis, the Ingathering of the Exiles (Kibbutz Galuyot) was the long-awaited fulfillment of an ancient biblical vision and the urgent rescue of Jews from the ashes of the Holocaust and rising hostility across the Arab world, as hundreds of thousands streamed into the newborn state between 1948 and the early 1950s, doubling its population and forging a nation from survivors, refugees, and pioneers. The process, hailed in Israel as a historic miracle yet marked by tent camps, cultural clashes, and lasting social tensions, stands as both the cornerstone of the Jewish state's identity.
