Episode Details

This is Drabbletober, the podcast of tiny fiction.

Hello, and welcome to Drabbletober. This is episode 9, season 3, for Friday the ninth of October 2026, and I'm Elizabeth Guilt.

Your one-hundred word story for the day is:

Milda Sings Destruction

by Elizabeth Guilt

Milda picks up the bone flute, and plays to the trees. The wind sings with her, high and shrill, and a nearby vixen screams.

Her father snatches the flute. "No, Milda!"

He scoops her into his arms, tickling her until she laughs and the tree branches are still again.

Soon she will be too big to pick up, too old to be soothed with silly games.

Soon, when Milda sings destruction, he will not be able to stop her. He knows what he should do.

He buries his head in her curly hair so she will not see his tears.
