Deuteronomy 28:1 | What YOU Obeyed at a Cost Is Still Coming Back

Pastor Sean Pinder welcomes guest speaker Pastor Mark Zimmerman for a word for anyone who has been obeying God at great cost and is still waiting to see the reward.

Obedience is the most expensive thing God asks of YOU — and the most rewarded.

YOU have obeyed when it was hard. YOU have done what God asked even when it cost YOU something, even when no one around YOU seemed to be doing the same, even when there was nothing to show for it yet. And part of YOU has started to wonder if it is even worth it — if all that quiet, costly obedience is actually leading anywhere. This message was written for YOU.

It begins with a staggering promise.

Scripture says that if YOU fully obey God — carefully, completely, not just the convenient parts — He will set YOU high above. Not partial obedience. Not obedience when it is easy. Full, laser-accurate obedience is tied to a reward most people never experience, because most people only obey the parts that cost them nothing.

Here is what most people miss.

There is an example of perfect obedience woven through some of the most familiar stories in the Bible — stories YOU have heard many times — and it is not the person YOU have always focused on. There is another participant in these accounts, one most people read right past, that obeyed God with instant, exact, unquestioning precision. And once Pastor Mark shows YOU who it is, YOU will never read these stories the same way again — because that overlooked example will convict and inspire YOUR own obedience.

That kind of obedience always becomes part of something bigger.

In every one of these accounts, the one who simply did exactly what God said — immediately, without debating it, without watching to see if anyone else was obeying — ended up positioned right in the middle of a miracle. Obedience put them exactly where God wanted them, at exactly the right moment, and made them part of what God was doing. The same is true for YOU. YOUR obedience is not keeping YOU small. It is positioning YOU.

And here is the encouragement for the one who is tired.

Some of YOU have sacrificed things no one sees. YOU have given up a lot to follow Jesus, and YOU are still in a hard place with no shortcut in sight. But Scripture promises that God is not unjust to forget YOUR labor of love, that in due season YOU will reap if YOU do not give up, and that there is a reward reserved for those who endure. YOUR harvest is closer than it feels.

Who is the overlooked example of obedience? Why does full obedience get rewarded when partial obedience does not? And what is waiting for the one who does not faint?

Press play — because God rewards obedience. Pastor Mark is going to open the Scriptures in a way that will breathe fresh strength into every costly, unseen act of obedience YOU have offered God.
