My Cat
Published 3 weeks ago
Description
In the illustrated children's story My Cat by Julia Donaldson, a young girl struggles to find a topic for a poem while her mischievous pet continuously disrupts her progress. Each time the narrator attempts to focus on a new subject, such as her parents or the ocean, the feline intervenes by knocking over supplies or demanding attention. Frustrated by these constant distractions, the girl eventually puts the cat outside but quickly feels guilty for leaving him in the cold. Upon letting him back indoors, she experiences a creative breakthrough and decides to make the playful animal the central figure of her writing. This short book serves as a phonics-based reader that highlights how unexpected obstacles can eventually become the perfect inspiration for art.
