Description
Wednesday Mass. 10.07.26.
This homily is about the Rosary as a path that connects us to heaven. Drawing on a personal image from his early years of priesthood, in which Mary holds one end of the rosary chain and Jesus and the Trinity hold the other, it explains that praying to Mary is a movement toward her Son, transforming our hearts to become like him. It recalls the origin of the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, when Christian soldiers facing a naval battle knelt in prayer and the victory was credited to Mary. Turning to the Gospel, where the disciples ask Jesus to teach them to pray, the homily shows how the Our Father calls God's kingdom down to earth, and how each mystery of the Rosary does the same by remembering real moments of Christ's life. The Rosary, it concludes, is a powerful way to bring God's kingdom into our hearts and, through them, into the world.
