Flying in SA: What airlines charge for bags, seats and other extras

Published 2 weeks, 2 days ago
Description

We’re looking at the true cost of flying domestically in South Africa — because the cheapest fare you see advertised isn’t necessarily the price you’ll end up paying once you add baggage, seat selection or the cost of changing your flight - Andrew Thompson is a journalist with News24, and he’s looked at what the country’s major domestic airlines are charging for these extras, from checked bags and exit-row seats to food and flight changes.

Presenter John Maytham is an actor and author-turned-talk radio veteran and seasoned journalist. His show serves a round-up of local and international news coupled with the latest in business, sport, traffic and weather. The host’s eclectic interests mean the program often surprises the audience with intriguing book reviews and inspiring interviews profiling artists.

A daily highlight is Rapid Fire, just after 5:30pm. CapeTalk fans call in, to stump the presenter with their general knowledge questions. Another firm favourite is the humorous Thursday crossing with award-winning journalist Rebecca Davis, called “Plan B”.
