Episode Details

The Washington Capitals finally return to Capital One Arena for the 2026-27 home opener against the Pittsburgh Penguins — and this one carries a little more weight. Alex Ovechkin has officially announced this will be his final NHL season, making Wednesday his first home game since that announcement. Dan breaks down what Ovechkin’s final home opener means, Matt Roy’s lower-body injury and the defensive challenge it creates, Ryan Leonard’s move alongside Boone Jenner and Justin Sourdif, and why the Penguins’ explosive offense and penalty kill make this a fascinating early-season test for Washington.
