Description
If you’ve ever wondered whether you’re truly secure with God or whether you’re one failure away from losing everything, Philippians 3 brings a steadying answer. I open Paul’s words and follow his trail of confidence, not in self improvement, but in Jesus Christ Himself. Paul counts everything else as loss so he can “win Christ,” and that sets up a crucial truth: the righteousness that gets a sinner to heaven is not earned by living right, it is credited by God through faith.
From that foundation, we talk about what comes next. Salvation happens in a moment, but knowing Christ grows across a lifetime. Paul presses forward toward a sure future, and I explain why that forward motion is not about trying to make heaven possible, but about laying hold of what God has already promised. Along the way, we draw a sharp line between inheritance and rewards. Scripture teaches that rewards can be gained or lost through faithfulness, but inheritance is granted freely because of relationship, promise, and grace.
We also tackle a real tension in today’s churches: a culture drifting into self worship and a backlash that tries to frighten professing believers into holiness by threatening hell. Ephesians 1, Ephesians 5, Hebrews 9, and 1 Peter 1 help us keep both truths together: God will not break His promise, and saving grace does change a person. The blood of Christ secures eternal redemption, and God keeps His people for an inheritance that is incorruptible, undefiled, and reserved in heaven.
