There’s a Reward for Being Prepared
Description
Matthew 25:1-13 | There's a Reward for Being PREPARED
The preparation that feels pointless right now is the exact thing that will matter most later.
Being prepared is quiet, unglamorous work. It is the effort YOU put in when nothing is happening yet — the praying, the getting ready, the staying faithful when there is no immediate payoff and no one watching. And because nothing seems to come of it in the moment, it is easy to let it slide. But Matthew 25 reveals that the preparation YOU are tempted to skip is the difference between being ready and being shut out.
There was a group waiting for an important arrival — and at first, they all looked exactly the same.
Same assignment, same waiting, same outward appearance. But there was one difference between them that did not seem to matter at all in the beginning. Some had quietly prepared for the possibility of a delay. Others had done the bare minimum, assuming they would not need more. In the calm of the waiting, that difference was invisible. Everyone looked equally ready.
Here is what most people miss.
The arrival was delayed, and while they waited, every one of them grew drowsy. The preparation did not make them look more spiritual or more impressive during the wait. It simply sat there, unused, seeming unnecessary — until the exact moment it became the only thing that mattered. Because when the sudden announcement finally came, the difference that had been invisible became the difference between everything.
The ones who had prepared were ready in an instant. The ones who had not scrambled to get what they needed — and discovered it could not be borrowed or rushed at the last second.
By the time the unprepared returned, the door was shut. Not because they were unwanted, but because the window to prepare had already closed. The reward went to the ones whose quiet, earlier effort meant they had what they needed when it counted. Their preparation, which looked like wasted effort during the long wait, turned out to be the most important thing they ever did.
There is something in that contrast — the invisible difference, the sudden moment, the shut door — and in the promise that God rewards those who diligently seek Him, that will completely change how YOU view the unglamorous preparation in front of YOU. Because the effort YOU put in now, when it seems to accomplish nothing, is never wasted. It is being stored up for the moment YOU will need it most.
What was the invisible difference between them? Why couldn't it be borrowed at the last minute? And what does it mean that YOUR quiet preparation is never wasted?
Press play — because there is a reward for being prepared. This message will show YOU why the effort YOU are putting in now, with nothing to show for it yet, is positioning YOU for the moment everything changes.
