From Loss to Purpose: Turning Trials into Triumphs with Dr. OluWole Babatunde

Description

In this episode of 9–5 Exit Plan, I sit down with Dr. Oluwole Babatunde, a physician-scientist, psychiatrist, epidemiologist, author, and servant-leader whose life story is a powerful example of resilience, faith, and purpose.

Born and raised in Nigeria, Wole lost both of his parents before the age of 14. Yet those devastating experiences did not become the end of his story.

He went on to become a physician in Nigeria, move to the United States to pursue a Ph.D. in Epidemiology, publish more than 60 scientific papers, receive the NIH F99/K00 award, and become Chief Resident in Psychiatry at Prisma Health in South Carolina.

We discuss grief, resilience, mental health, faith, scientific medicine, service, identity, and the process of turning difficult experiences into opportunities for growth and purpose.

Wole also shares the ideas behind his book, Adapt and Advance: A Faith-Based Step-by-Step Guide to Turning Trials into Triumphs, and explains how people can move beyond simply surviving adversity toward creating a meaningful future.

If you’re going through a difficult season, searching for purpose, or simply need a reminder that your current circumstances don’t have to define your future, this conversation is for you.
