Evening Edition: Russian Plague And American Measles, What Do We Know?
Description
The unexplained death of a researcher at a Russian anti-plague institute has some concerned if it could be worse than the bacteria that caused the Black Death. Russia is downplaying her death saying that testing found no microorganisms in her body linked to her work, and does not use the word 'plague'. Meanwhile here in the United States, the number of measles cases is rising sparking New York State Governor Kathy Hochul to declare a state disaster emergency.
FOX’s Gurnal Scott speaks with Dr. Tyler Evans, infectious diseases physician and author of 'Pandemics, Poverty, and Politics: Decoding the Social and Political Drivers of Pandemics from Plague to COVID-19', who says the uptick in measles cases will worsen during the colder months, and shares what he knows about this respiratory disease in Russia.
