Episode Details

Bestselling author Lisa Jewell discusses the unusual real-life inspiration behind her twenty-first thriller novel, None of This Is True. Although she originally wanted to write a stalker story, the plot truly began to take shape after she briefly spotted a stranger through an apartment window. Letting her imagination run wild regarding what might be hidden inside the man's home, she translated those dark musings into her latest fiction. Jewell explains that she easily separates her grim subject matter from her everyday life and does not include personal experiences in her writing. Ultimately, while she quickly detaches herself from completed manuscripts to move on to new projects, her characters permanently retain a familiar place in her memory.
