S3 E6: "Between the Lines"
Description
This is Drabbletober, the podcast of tiny fiction.
Hello, and welcome to Drabbletober. This is episode 6, season 3, for Tuesday the sixth of October 2026, and I'm Elizabeth Guilt.
Your one-hundred word story for the day is:
Between the Lines
by Elizabeth Guilt
Today, I sent you a voicemail.
It said...
Did you know there's a five thousand kilometre fence across Queensland, just to keep dingoes away from the sheep? It also blocks emu migration routes, so the emu can't disperse seeds. Dingoes are apex predators, so without them the land is overgrazed by rabbits and feral goats. They have to cull the kangaroos now. The dingo-free side is so stripped of vegetation you can see the difference from space.
I hope you listened to it.
I hope you heard the things I couldn't say.
I love you.
I miss you.
I'm sorry.
