Trainer Talk: Episode 13 - Strength Training for Everyday Life: What are you getting stronger for?
Description
Strength training can make a workout feel challenging, but its value reaches beyond the workout. Carrying groceries, climbing stairs, running, practicing a sport, playing with your kids, and continuing to do the things you enjoy all require strength.
In this episode of Trainer Talk, Tasha and Brian start with a simple question: What actually counts as strength training? That opens the door to a larger conversation about how strength shows up in everyday life and why feeling strong can change the way you approach more than your workouts.
They also take on a few questions that come up often:
- How heavy should your weights feel?
- Do you always need to lift more to make progress?
- What happens when a weight you normally use feels heavier than expected?
The answers aren’t always as straightforward as the number printed on a dumbbell.
You’ll hear their approach to progressive overload, repeating workouts, knowing when to adjust, and telling the difference between a challenge and pain. They also share how their own training experiences have shaped the way they coach strength.
The conversation leads into Muscle & Power, the 10-day challenge inspired by Strength and Cardio with Brian and Powerful with Tasha. Tasha and Brian share how they brought parts of those programs together and why strength, cardio, HIIT, and power all have a place in the schedule.
