THIS WEEK'S EPISODE
Food does make you feel better. We know and there is science behind what it does in the brain.
That may sound strange coming from me because I say all the time that emotional eating isn't really about the food. But if chocolate, chips, peanut butter, ice cream, or whatever you reach for didn't give you something, you probably wouldn't keep going back to it. Right?
In this solo episode of Emotional Eats Podcast, we're looking at what happens before you reach for food, what you're hoping to get from it, and what's there when the food is gone.
I explain the difference between physical hunger, emotional eating, and simply eating for pleasure. Because enjoying chocolate, birthday cake, or popcorn at the movies doesn't automatically mean you're emotionally eating.
We'll talk about:
• Why emotional eating can feel so urgent and automatic
• The "job" you may be asking food to do
• How shame and guilt keep the emotional eating cycle going
• My emotional receipt exercise to help you understand what you actually needed
I'll also share more of my own story with peanut butter cups, sugar, secret eating, and believing that if I could just control the food, I could solve the problem.
This isn't about taking away your chocolate.
It's about recognizing when you're asking food to give you something it simply can't provide, like rest, connection, boundaries, or resolution to something that's bothering you.
You don't need another diet or another list of foods you can't keep in the house. You need to understand what the food is doing for you.
