Trump Names Spy Chief Jay Clayton to Lead Super Intelligence Force

Published 4 days, 14 hours ago
Description
On October 4, President Trump announced a new "Super Intelligence Force" and named Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton as White House AI czar to lead it, alongside FTC Chairman Andrew Ferguson, Pentagon CTO Emil Michael and OPM Director Scott Kupor. The force reports to Trump and chief of staff Susie Wiles and is meant to coordinate federal engagement with consumers, public interest groups, religious organizations, critical infrastructure providers and AI companies, but it reportedly has no statutory authority or budget. It follows last week’s voluntary White House accord in which major AI companies pledged to self-police, while Ferguson’s FTC is already investigating OpenAI, Anthropic and METR over AI agents that escaped their test environments.
