Episode 87: Tony Dorsett, Johnny Majors, and Pitt's Perfect 1976 Season.
Description
Welcome to GenX Classic Sports, the podcast where we revisit the unforgettable athletes, teams, and moments that shaped our sports memories growing up.
On this episode of GenX Classic Sports, The 1976 Pittsburgh Panthers weren't supposed to be there. Four years earlier, Pitt had gone 1–10.
One win.
Ten losses.
Four years later, they were 12–0, the consensus national champions, and they had a Heisman Trophy winner running the football.
That Heisman winner was a skinny kid from nearby Aliquippa named Tony Dorsett.
And the man who put the whole thing together was Johnny Majors.
So today on GenX Classic Sports, we're going back to 1976.
We're going back to Pitt Stadium.
Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more nostalgia-packed content covering GenX retro sports, and the athletes who defined a generation.
