Fighting Against the Controlled Demolition of Medical Ethics with Dr Elizabeth Evans
Description
Who is Dr Elizabeth Evans?
Dr Evans talks about:
Dr Elizabeth “Liz” Evans, MA, MBBS, DRCOG, is a retired British doctor and co-founder and CEO of UK Medical Freedom Alliance (UKMFA).
After training and working in conventional medicine, including general practice, she developed an interest in a broader approach to health and later worked in complementary medicine. In October 2020, she co-founded UKMFA, an organisation bringing together healthcare professionals, scientists and others concerned about medical ethics, informed consent, bodily autonomy and freedom of medical choice.
Since then, Dr Evans has become a prominent public campaigner on medical ethics. Her work has included contributing to open letters, consultations and campaigns challenging healthcare policies that UKMFA believes threaten patient autonomy and the doctor-patient relationship.
She has spoken extensively about informed consent, pharmaceutical influence, the treatment of medical whistleblowers, children’s healthcare, assisted dying, organ donation and the increasing medicalisation and digitisation of healthcare.
Presentations & media
Dr Evans is also a contributor and guest presenter on UK Column, where she has interviewed guests and presented on medical and ethical issues.
In October 2025, she delivered “The Controlled Demolition of Medical Ethics and Silencing of Ethical Doctors” at the UK Column York Conference, examining what she sees as the erosion of medical ethics, pharmaceutical influence, treatment of NHS whistle blowers, healthcare digitisation and over-medicalisation.
Her other appearances and presentations include “In Search of Medical Ethics” for UK Column; presentations for Medical Doctors for Covid Ethics; the Health and Truth Conference; the Heritage Party Conference; Public Child Protection Wales; and interviews with Doc Malik, Unity News Network and Children’s Health Defense TV.
Values & ethos
At the heart of Dr Evans’ work is the principle of “First, do no harm.”
She advocates for informed consent, bodily autonomy, freedom of medical choice, open scientific debate and the right of doctors to raise concerns without fear of professional repercussions.
Through UKMFA, she argues for healthcare that puts the individual patient and doctor-patient relationship at its centre, with patients given clear information about potential benefits and risks so they can make their own healthcare decisions.
She talks about
In this conversation with Althea, Dr Liz Evans explores what she describes as the “controlled demolition of medical ethics” and asks whether some of the fundamental principles that once underpinned medicine are being progressively eroded.
They discuss what has happened to informed consent and bodily autonomy, the influence of pharmaceutical and institutional interests, the treatment of doctors who challenge prevailing policies, and the increasing medicalisation of everyday life.
Liz also explores what she believes needs to change to restore trust, integrity, compassion and individual choice to medicine.
