Episode Details

Netflix is developing a live-action series adaptation of Larry McMurtry's acclaimed 1985 novel Lonesome Dove, which famously follows retired Texas Rangers on an epic cattle drive to Montana. The streaming platform has tapped Zoe Kazan and Jeb Stuart as co-showrunners and writers, building on their successful previous collaboration on the dramatic series East of Eden. In a recent interview, the creative duo discussed their mutual respect and shared vision for tackling the massive, highly respected Western source material. This new project follows a long legacy of beloved adaptations and serves as a major touchstone for prominent creators like Taylor Sheridan. As production moves forward, industry observers are eager to see if the showrunners might incorporate elements from the broader McMurtry franchise to potentially build out a more expansive television universe.
