People across the world claim to have witnessed the same terrifying figure.
He is unusually tall.
He is completely covered in shadow.
And he wears a wide-brimmed hat.
Some witnesses see him standing silently in the corner of their bedroom. Others report finding him at the end of a hallway or watching from an open doorway. Many encounters happen during sleep paralysis—when the mind is awake, but the body cannot move.
Science may explain the darkness, the fear and the feeling that somebody is nearby.
But why do so many witnesses describe such a similar figure?
